UNP MP John Ameratunge further confirms that Ra-NIL saved Anti Democratic Mahinda who was accused of acrrying out several murders !

UNP MP and former Minister during UNP Regimes, John Ameratunge confirms that it was then Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who had saved then Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was accused of acrrying out several murders at the time.

When several local and international journalists have inquired about the articles published about the above incident in several online web portals, John Ameratunge, who was at the time the Internal Affairs Minister, had confirmed that the incident was true.
He had said that Ranil Wickremesinghe had opposed the move to arrest Mahinda Rajapaksa when all arrangements for it was made.John Ameratunge has also said that although the relevant files had gone missing at the time, he had made photocopies of the files.

Magistrate Upali Samaraweera, who heard the two murder cases that were allegedly carried out on the request of Mahinda Rajapaksa, had retired, the President had appointed him as the Prisons Commissioner. The judge is now a director of the Board of Investments.

Popular Opposition Party Leader to join UNP as another deputy Leader ? Former Cricketer to join as National Organizer and Ravi up the ladder as Deputy ?

One time strongest political party, now weeker with Ra-NIL's leadership, the UNP is looking at amending its Constitution once more to make way for a popular opposition leader to join the party and it is likely to be General Sarath Fonseka.

The amendment is to be brought to create a position for these leading opposition member and to confirm the deputy leadership post held by Sajith Premadasa.

Therefore, the number of deputy leader posts in the party is expected to go up further more.

The new Constitution speaks only of one deputy leader. Senior party leaders have informed the party leadership that although Premadasa was appointed as deputy leader in place of the vice leader post, the Constitution had to be amended to make his appointment lawful.

In this backdrop, the party is looking at amending the Constitutionnn to legalize Premadasa's deputy leader post and to appoint National Organizer Ravi Karunanayake also as deputy leader of the party.

An active opposition parliamentarian had agreed to the UNP leadership that he would join the party only if he is given the post of National Organizer and some believe this can be the other popular figure in DNA otehr than General Fonseka. Karunanayake has said that he was ready to give up the post of National Organizer if he is appointed as a deputy leader.

Therefore, Karu Jayasuriya is to be appointed as the senior deputy leader from among five deputy leader posts. However, until the amendment is made, the UNP leader has decided to give specific powers to each office bearer within the next two weeks, the parliamentarian said.

Anyway many political analysts believe that without removing Ra-NIL as leadership, their will be not much change in voterbase of the party but the greenship will sink further more...!

Anti Democratic Mahinda and his goons launch an operation to hack the e-mail accounts of opponents and pro democracy fighters.

UNP parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayaskera told parliament on the 5th that the IGP has commenced a special unit to hack into e-mail accounts of politicians as well as those who criticize the anti democratic regime. He made this statement during the debate on the extension of emergency regulations.

The parliamentarian revealed that the unit has been established under the police Computer Crimes Division and is located at BMICH. Jayasekera said the move has violated the privacy and fundamental rights of the politicians.

it is earlier reported that a special unit has been set up on the orders of the Defence secretary with the assistance of several Chinese technicians to keep a tab on the telephone conversations and e-mail accounts of opposition and government politicians and diplomats in foreign missions.

Ravi Karunanayke Appointed as the new UNP National Organizer

The UNP working comitee meeting to select a suitable person for the vacant post of National Organizer(Once SB left UNP and Joined UPFA Regime) was ended short while ago. It is reported that he was being appointed without going for any kind of voting and was confirmed by Party Secretary Tissa Attanayake.

The Colombo Destrict UNP Parlimenterian is a UNP heavyweight and faced severe problems when Chandrika was the President. He is one of the prominent UNP parlimenterians who critisize the anti democratic regime of Mahinda.

It was reported earlier that Ranjith Maddumma Bandara and Mangala Samaraweera too had an idea of contesting fot that post.
