I met Ashley in the New Jersey Transit section of Penn Station last week after I spotted this tattoo on her right foot:
Now, if you've not read the Harry Potter series, perhaps it is best to skip the rest of the post, because it might not make a lot of sense.
Those in the know will understand what I mean when I explain that the ghostly creature on the top of Ashley's foot is the patronus of Severus Snape, as described in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final installment of the seven-part series by J.K. Rowling. The patronus takes the shape of a doe.
The quote above the doe is "It's real for us..." as remembered by Snape when speaking with Lily Evans, the girl at Hogwarts who became Harry's mother. Identical creatures appear when they cast the patronus charm.
Ashley's friend drew it up and she had the piece done at Tattoo Nation in Wayne, New Jersey by Matt "Monty" Montleon.
This is one of two tattoos that Ashley has. The other resides on her left foot:
The snowflake was also inked by Monty and is a memorial to Ashley's grandmother, whose last name was Snow.
Thanks to Ashley for sharing her two tattoos with us here on Tattoosday!

A Bright Spot in December: A Phoenix and a Pin-Up
As one would expect, inkspotting is tough during December. Here we are at the end of the month, and I have only interviewed three people since the 1st. There were a few times over the summer when I interviewed three contributors during my lunch hour!
The last person whose work I photographed was Megan, who I found upstairs at the Penn Plaza Borders store.
Megan has seventeen tattoos, but it was this one that caught my eye:
This is a phoenix, of course, but fewer people may recognize it as Fawkes, the phoenix of Professor Albus Dumbledore, in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
The artwork is based on the illustration by Jason Cockcroft on the cover of the UK edition of the aforementioned book.
The tattooist Jamie Nichols at Gargoyle Tattoo in Aberdeen, Washington, completed this piece in about eight hours over two sittings.
Megan also has this pinup on her upper left arm:
The use of negative space for the bombs is pretty cool.
Marcus was the artist at Gargoyle that Megan credited for creating this piece..
Thanks to Megan for taking the time to speak to me about her cool tattoos!

Two for Tattuesday Saturday: Wanderful Love Under the Cherry Blossoms
In honor of the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1) , we're sharing this tattoo, which I spotted back in September:
This belongs to Rich, a musician and rap artist. He's a big Harry Potter fan, as exemplified by the magic wand. The snake at the base of the wand not only symbolizes infinity, it is a nod to Severus Snape, a character associated with the House of Slytherin, of which the serpent is the mascot.
The concept of the tattoo is exemplified by the music coming out of the wand, illustrating that sounds can be magical and that Rich is under music's spell.
The piece was inked by Chris at Lady Luck Tattoo Studio in Montville, Connecticut.
When I met Rich, he was sitting with his girlfriend in Penn Station. She introduced herself as Kytti, and asked if I wanted to see her tattoo.
But of course!
She actually has two tattoos, but lifted up her shirt to show me this beautiful design:
Kytti explained that this represents her and Rich together in Japan. They've been together for over a year and they'd both love to go there together and experience the culture. The tree is filled with cherry blossoms, a flower often associated with Japan.
Chris at Lady Luck also was the artist behind this tattoo.
Thanks to Rich and Kytti for sharing their magical and romantic tattoos with us here on Tattoosday!

Emma Watson's Promoting the Penultimate Potter
So, the penultimate Harry Potter film hits the screens, with the Preview in London last weekend. To carry on the spirit, I thought Emma Watson would be fitting. And what else could she be but a witch! With her beloved books.
I wonder if she will ever manage to shake off the Hermione association?
And look how she's grown. Weren't they just adorable, so cute! But like all children, they become adults.
It's a strange thing watching child stars grow up. There is that sense of the child next door. You know them by sight, but not necessarily very well.
Now should I do Rupert Grint next week? Or wait until the final film in the Summer?
What do you think?

Harry Potter Looks Very Cute in a Bra
Look away. I'm hideous.
Daniel Radcliffe cross dresses in a white lacy bra in this new clip from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. Fans of the books know that this scene actually reflects Fleur Delacour after she takes the polyjuice potion to turn into Harry! Regardless, it must have been a lot of laughs on the set that day!!

Butterbeer a Huge Success at Harry Potter Wizarding Word Theme Park - "Unofficial" Recipe Leaked
Butterbeer is the most popular food item at the new at Universal Orlando, according to Wizarding World of Harry Potter Universal spokesman Tom Schroder, with visitors lining up to try it. Schroder said that about half the visitors to The Wizarding World sample butterbeer.
Guests describe the drink as tasting "like cream soda. It was somewhat thick, and it was really sweet, and then it got salty as you swallowed it, like butterscotch."
Travers said if he were trying to make butterbeer at home, he'd "start with a good cream soda." The hard part, he said, would be the topping: "It tastes like a Werther's caramel candy but the foam had the consistency of a dairy or latte type of foam. It's pretty dense; it floats on top."
In the Harry Potter books
Start to finish: 1 hour (10 minutes active)
Servings: 4
Servings: 4
•1 cup light or dark brown sugar
•2 tablespoons water
•6 tablespoon butter
•1/2 teaspoon salt
•1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
•3/4 cup heavy cream, divided
•1/2 teaspoon rum extract
•Four 12-ounce bottles cream soda
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar and water. Bring to a gentle boil and cook, stirring often, until the mixture reads 240 F on a candy thermometer.
Stir in the butter, salt, vinegar and 1/4 cup heavy cream. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
Once the mixture has cooled, stir in the rum extract.
In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar mixture and the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Use an electric mixer to beat until just thickened, but not completely whipped, about 2 to 3 minutes.
To serve, divide the brown sugar mixture between 4 tall glasses (about 1/4 cup for each glass). Add 1/4 cup of cream soda to each glass, then stir to combine. Fill each glass nearly to the top with additional cream soda, then spoon the whipped topping over each.

Little Update

Guys, I am enjoying being lazy as hell, being pampered by Mommy and reading books of my own likening! It's gorgeous. In German it's called " Süsses Nichtstun" which could be translated
into "Sweet doing-nothing". I can't deny it's wonderful, just for a few days that is. Otherwise one could get easily used to it. Talking to my Love at least half an hour, it helps slightly to miss him less. But only slightly to be honest. I simply miss him like hell.
Anyways, just watched " Calender Girls" on TV, was in the Mountains today in the morning, for a little short trip- well we went for a walk there actually, to breathe some fresh air. It was lovely to visit an old place of ours, where we used to go very often in the past! Now I am waiting for the TV- Series based on Henning Mankells books about Inspector Wallander! I love them! Reading "Harry Potter and the deathly hallows" by the way as well and a book of the author mentioned above. Meeting a friend next week, having some more business, getting a bit more pampered and and and :). Off now!
Har det bra!
P.S by the way do you sometimes watch the tv series? I mean there are a lot- or at least three- of them. Which ones do you like best? I can't decide, really!

Harry Potter...
Watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in the theatre yesterday. Made me laugh, made my cry. I knew what would come, but still... what's the world without Dumbledore? Anyways, I am very busy- looking for a proper job for September- and planing summer. Ha det bra!
Obejrzałam Harry'ego Pottera i Księcia Półkrwi w kinie wczoraj. I się śmiałam i płakałam. Mimo, iż wiedziałam, co mnie czeka... co to za świat bez Dumbledora? Bardzo żem zajęta szukaniem pożądnej pracy na wrzesień i planowaniem lata. Ha det bra!
