Obama Signs Bill to Compensate 9/11 First Responders

Well, after 9 years those first responders who sacrificed their health to save others and to clean up the remains of the WTC are going to get compensated. According to this yahoo.com article:

The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act was named after a police officer who died of a respiratory disease he contracted during the 9/11 rescue operations. The bill was one of the last measures Congress passed before adjourning in December.

Some Republicans tried to block the measure, saying they were concerned with how to pay for the bill. They dropped their opposition after lawmakers struck a compromise to reduce the costs.

The $4.2 billion measure will be paid for with a fee on some foreign companies that get U.S. government procurement contracts

To me it feels like this bill is the perfect fit for the saying "too little, too late" but at least it's better than nothing. I can only hope that the money is well spent and helps the first responders to the best possible extent.

25% Scooped Out?... I THINK NOT!

At the Screw Loose Change blog, a few new pictures of WTC 7 are featured to back up the claim that the building was heavily damaged. Funny that they didn't show this one!

Looks like the building wasn't scooped out after all. Shyam Sunder's "25% of the building" claim has officially been put to bed. Although Pat ignores it, the investigation Sunder led already realized this claim was too dubious to try and hoodwink people with.
