Speaking as a former Florida high teacher (1986-89, Melbourne, Florida) in American & World History, I could could tell you horror stories all day long about how dumbed down and Leftist oriented were what passes for public (government) education in The Sunshine State were over 20 years ago.
…And the decline has been only worse since then…
This is the reason a growing number of Floridians have opted for home schooling, Internet education, church schools and private education all the way to college. When I lived in Florida, the parents of children (many of them former public school teachers) I knew would starve rather than send their kids to government schools!
The lesson here, class, is that if the government at any level is allowed to run education, education become state propaganda. The educational system is best left in the hands of the individual.
When education in the USA was private, we got the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and Washington as president. Under public education we get Kas Kapital and Obama as president.
P.S. If the Leftist goal was to create a generations of good little socialists, the effort has been a gigantic failure – a recent poll finds a majority of American adults very right wing….and very angry at the Left!

• Analyze the major factors that drove United States imperialism.

• Assess key figures and organizations in shaping the Black Power Movement.
• Analyze significant Supreme Court decisions relating to reproductive rights.
• Describe efforts by the United States and other world powers to avoid future wars.
• Examine the failure of the United States to support the League of Nations.
Kalahar says teachers will be legally bound to teach these perspectives…’
It’d be nice to think the same thing wasn’t happening here in Australia and in New Zealand, but I’m willing to bet that it is.
