Real-life Cinderellas from Argentina

There are numerous examples of Argentine women who had romantic affars with foreign celebrities and even members of the royalty. When that happens, the event is celebrated with approval and pride, as if an international sports competition had been won or as if the woman were representing in some way her native country instead of fulfilling her private life.
Let's examine ten top love affairs involving Argentine women and international celebrities:

Michael Bublé and Luisana Lopilato. The actress, former girlfriend of Juan Mónaco, met the Canadian singer in one of his concerts in Argnetina, in November 2008. They officialized their romance at the BMI Pop Awards in California.

Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso. The actor met Luciana Barroso, from Salta, in a bar in Miami where she was working as a waitress. That happened back in 2003 and now they are one of the most solid couples in Hollywood.

Robert Duvall and Luciana Pedraza. Born in Salta, Luciana married Duvall in 2004. They met in 1997 and Duvall is 41 years older than her. Their passion for tango joins them.

Prince Willem-Alexander and Máxima Zorreguieta. Born in 1971, Máxima met the heir to the Dutch throne in April 1999 in Sevilla, Spain, during the Seville Spring Fair. Like in a fairy-tale, they married in Amsterdam in February 2002.

Gael García Bernal and Dolores Fonzi. Their relationship started as a rumour since the Mexican actor was having a relationship with Natalie Portman. Fonzi and García Bernal had a son together called Lázaro.

Matt Groening and Agustina Picasso. He created the Simpsons. She is the member of an artistic group known as Mondongo. They met in an exhibition in Los Angeles and in November 2008 their romance became known publicly.

Al Pacino and Lucila Polak. Lucila Polak is an actress and a model. She met Al Pacino four years ago and it was not love at first sight. They started their relationship two years ago and there is a difference of almost 40 years between them.

Joaquín Cortés and Carla Pereyra. Carla, who is 22 years old, met the flamenco dancer in Madrid. Joaquín followed her into a bar and gave her his telephone number. Fifteen days later they started dating.

Eric Clapton and Ana María Roqués. Clapton visited Argentina in 1990 and had dinner at a restaurant called Lola, where Ana María (a former high school beauty queen) was working as a receptionist. He proposed marriage to her but she didn't want to leave her country.

Iggy Pop and Alejandra Carrizo. In his 1999 solo album Avenue B there is a track called Miss Argentina dedicated to her. They met in 1993 and she accompanied him on his world tour but Carrizo, though 25 years younger than Iggy, soon got tired of her new life with a rockstar.

Non-official and unconfirmed relationships

The rumours existed though nobody confirmed them officially: Amalia Granata and her night of passion with Robbie Williams and Luciana Salazar and her short-lived romance with Luis Miguel. Were they true? Who knows...
